Wiz Khalifa has tested positive for COVID-19.
On Wednesday, the 33-year-old rapper tweeted about his diagnosis but added that he is still feeling healthy.
He wrote, “Okay loved ones….sooo…..Ya boy got covid. No symptoms. Just stay away from me for a lil while.”
Khalifa went on to say that he is quarantining, but he will be focusing his energy on creativity.
He tweeted, “While im in the house I’ll be givin y’all new content, planning raves, and readying this new project.”
However, it is still clear whether Khalifa has been vaccinated against the deadly virus.
Officials say there is still a small chance of vaccinated people getting infected than those who have not received the vaccines.
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) says developing COVID-19 after getting fully vaccinated is rare, but it is possible and “expected,” as the vaccines are not 100% effective against the coronavirus.
Last month, the Associated Press analyzed the government data and found that the majority of deaths associated with COVID-19 in the U.S. are now being reported as people who have not been vaccinated against the virus, according to PEOPLE.
The AP also reported that only about 0.8% of deaths related to the virus in May occurred in fully vaccinated people.
The news outlet noted that hospitalization and death percentages in fully vaccinated people from the May data have not been estimated by the CDC itself, as the group cited “limitations in the data.”
Khalifa is not the only recent musician to get COVID-19, as the rock band Foo Fighters also revealed on Instagram that someone in their “organization” contracted COVID.
The band wrote, “Out of an abundance of caution and concern for the safety of the band, crew, and most of all fans, Saturdays show at the Los Angeles Forum is being postponed to a later date.” We are all eager for things to get normal, but it is important to still stay safe and more importantly, get fully vaccinated until the pandemic is over.
