The little blue pill, Viagra, has revolutionized the treatment of erectile dysfunction (ED), a common sexual problem among men who fail to get or sustain an erection
However, there have been instances where some Viagra users reported side effects, such as loss of hearing, vomiting, fainting, back pain, confusion, and memory loss.
In the last five years, nine people in the United Kingdom said they have been affected by the blue pill, experiencing some side effects, according to The Sun.
Hugh Hefner, who was an American magazine publisher and the founder of Playboy magazine, had reported a hearing problem, going deaf from using too much Viagra. He died aged 91 in 2017.
Some men who used Viagra have been reporting a string of side effects, with one Brit complained he was left with a permanent kink in his organ, while three said Viagra gave them priapism (prolonged erection). They had to seek immediate medical attention to address priapism.
Another claimed he had to have his willy amputated, according to The Sun.
Overall, there are more than 540 side effects associated with Viagra or its generic version, sildenafil.
Since 2017, Viagra is available over-the-counter in pharmacies in the United Kingdom. Brits can buy Viagra Connect (50 mg sildenafil) without a prescription.
Other side effects reported by Viagra users include vomiting, fainting, flatulence, back pain, confusion, and memory loss, according to the news outlet.
One user said Viagra affected his eyesight, making everything appear to have a blue sheen.
A word of caution: Use Viagra only under the supervision of a doctor. Using the little blue pill along with certain medicines could be fatal, such as nitrates or alpha-blockers. If you experience any unwanted symptoms after taking Viagra, call your doctor right away or visit your nearest ER.
