Piers Morgan, who is often known for his controversial tweets, came against celebrities who openly talk on their mental health. It was Sophie Turner who slammed him for doing so.
Here’s how it played out.
It all started when an English actress, Beverley Callard, was quoted saying “Real mental illness is very dark and it takes a great deal of strength to ask for help. I think we are now definitely chipping away at the stigma. But we have to be careful mental illness doesn’t become like a Gucci handbag. There is a danger it can become ‘fashionable’.”
The English journalist, Piers Morgan, commented with a retweet on the story from The Sun, “She’ll be hammered for saying this, but it’s 100% true.”
But Turner had a response ready for Morgan: “Or maybe they have a platform to speak out about it and help get rid of the stigma of mental illness which affects 1 in 4 people in UK per year,” she tweeted. “But please go ahead and shun them back into silence. Twat.”
However, the Game of Thorns star, Sophie Turner, lashed out at Piers Morgan in no time. She had a response ready for Morgan. She tweeted “Or maybe they have a platform to speak out about it and help get rid of the stigma of mental illness which affects 1 in 4 people in UK per year. But please go ahead and shun them back into silence. T***.”
By retweeting, Turner was right because conversations that help do away with the stigmas attached to mental health issues are always important; they are not fodder for puns.
This is not the first time the English actress has used social media platforms to openly speak on mental health. In September, she tweeted, “You’re stronger than you think. You will get through this. You’re so loved. You are not a burden” in support of the World Suicide Prevention Day.
For Morgan, this is not new a controversy or Twitter argument. Back in November, Ariana Grande and her mom, Joan on Tweeter slammed him on Twitter.
Fans praised Turner, 22, for her tweet as they applauded her for slamming the Good Morning Britain broadcaster.
The English actress will be back on screens in April with the final series of Game of Thrones. However, she did not disclose what is ahead of her character. She did give a hint at the reaction to the show coming to an end. Turner said to IGN: “A lot of fans will be disappointed and a lot of fans will be over the moon, I think.”
