American singer and songwriter Billie Eilish has been still figuring out how to prioritize her mental health. Recently, she got candid about her own mental health struggles in emotional PSA.
Eilish does not shy from speaking about her mental health and her fans frequently listen to one of her hit songs “Ocean Eyes” in which she sings about feelings of depression and heartache.
The 17-year-old singer spoke about her efforts to overcome her mental health struggles.
Eilish said, “It doesn’t make you weak to ask for help. Starting that conversation, you don’t have to make it super serious right away.”
She explained that it could make a big difference if you check on a friend or just someone who might need help. She said, “It as easy as asking: Are you okay? Really? Are you actually good? And, if that’s too forward, a text message or a hug can go a long way.”
She added, “Sometimes you don’t even have to say something for them to know… Sometimes it’s about a hug.”
The start singer went on to say, “The main thing I’m trying to say is that you should keep your ears open and you should listen.”
Billie said although she is not a trained professional, she has learned a lot from her own mental health struggles. She said she has seen it and has been it. However, she continues to learn from her experiences. She said, “It’s been like that for me. There have been certain people that have texted me right as I need to be texted, you know, saying that they love me and it really means a lot.” Although she said she is still trying to figure it out, it is clear that people can learn something from the famous singer.
