On Tuesday’s episode of ‘The Ellen DeGeneres Show,’ Simon Cowell revealed that he is on a strict vegan diet that did not stop him from smoking and drinking.

The America’s Got Talent judge said he still consumes alcohol and nicotine, but he stays away from sugar, bread, dairy, gluten, and red meat.

After visiting his doctor, Cowell decided to change his diet. He said, “I went to see this doctor in London. We did some tests. And then a month later he said, ‘You have the worst diet I’ve ever met from any patient. So I went, ‘Okay, out of the smoking, the drinking, and diet, what do I have to drop?’ And he said, ‘The diet.’ So I said, ‘I’m in!’”

In August, Cowell told Access Hollywood that he lost around 20 pounds after following his new vegan diet. He said, “You feel better. My memory’s better, I feel better, so I didn’t find it difficult. I can still drink beer, so I’m happy.”

The 59-year-old explained that his new diet restricts him from eating things that he loved and but it did not stop him from having a beer. He also said that it was not difficult from him to adopt the new diet and thanked his 5-year-old son, Eric.

Cowell said, “It was easier than I thought, and part of the reason I did it was because of Eric. I realized if I didn’t sort myself out physically, I wouldn’t be able to catch up with him. Because the minute he gets up to the minute he goes to sleep … their energy, you forget, at 5-years-old, is phenomenal.”

Previously, he told Extra, “It’s like the Eric diet because he actually, apart from ice cream, he actually likes water. I mean, who likes water? And his raw vegetables. So I’m on like, the Eric Cowell diet.”

In 2017, Cowell was taken to ER after he fell down the stairs and collapsed due to an episode of insomnia. Later, he said he fell and collapsed due to low blood pressure.

The AGT judge told The Sun, “Sometimes, we get a reminder that we’re not invincible and this was certainly mine. It was a huge shock. I have got to really take good care of myself to sort that out.”
