Batwoman actress Ruby Rose has revealed that she had to undergo emergency surgery after picking up a serious injury while performing a stunt that went horribly wrong and could have left her paralyzed.
She said she underwent the surgery a few months ago because she was found to have a herniation of two discs while doing the stunt for her new TV series, Batwoman.
Documenting her experience in a video clip, the Australian actress took to Instagram to reveal that she had nerve injuries while performing the stunt, which could have led to paralysis.
She wrote, “To anyone asking why I let them video it. Did you not watch that Greys anatomy episode where they left a towel in a patient?? Also I wanted to see what happens when we go under.”
The video clip revealed a close-up shot of her doctors performing the surgery.
The Orange is the New Black actress explained that her injury was very close to damaging her spinal cord, which left her in severe pain and she was not able to feel her arms.
Rose continued, “To everyone asking about my new Pez dispenser scar on my neck… A couple of months ago I was told I needed an emergency surgery or I was risking becoming paralyzed… I had herniated two discs doing stunts.”
“They were close to severing my spinal cord,” added Rose. “I was in chronic pain and yet couldn’t feel my arms… Thank you Dr Bray for everything you did and for allowing me to keep working and doing what I love.” This is not the first time Rose had to go under the knife. Last year in January, she had to undergo back surgery due to her spinal issues, which left her wheelchair-bound for a while.
