On Monday, Nicki Minaj announced through her Instagram account that she is pregnant with her first child with husband Kenneth Petty.
The 37-year-old rapper posted three images on Instagram, one featured the caption “#Preggers” and another, “Love. Marriage. Baby carriage. Overflowing with excitement & gratitude. Thank you all for the well wishes.”
She posted a photo of her in a two-piece sporting with a prominent baby bump.
In October, Minaj surprised her fans when she posted about marrying Petty, an old friend of hers.
Last month, Minaj told People magazine about how much she has been enjoying her married life.
She said of her marriage, “I didn’t think it would be as refreshing and calming as it is. Even if you’re not married, when you have someone that feels like your soulmate or someone who understands you, it just makes you feel like you’re on top of the world.”
At the time, she posted a pic, captioning, “Onika Tanya Maraj-Petty 10•21•19,” sharing her new legal name and the date she made her marriage official with Petty.
Petty was convicted of attempted rape in 1995. Earlier this year, he pleaded not guilty when charged with failing to register himself as a sex offender after moving to California from New York, with a trial date yet to be set, according to The Guardian.
Minaj has topped the US charts twice this year. First, in May, she topped the charts with her remix to Doja Cat’s single Say So. And then in June with Trollz, her track with 6ix9ine. Her most recent album was Queen in 2018.
