Musician Brandon Flowers, best known as the lead singer and keyboardist of the Las Vegas-based rock band The Killers, is gearing up to undergo surgery after sustaining a shoulder injury during a previous mountain biking accident.
During an Instagram Live Q&A video on Friday, he revealed the news in which he appeared alongside drummer Ronnie Vannucci Jr.
The 39-year-old said, “Some of you may have seen the picture I posted and some footage when I went over the handlebars on my bike and an injury from that has manifested itself,” before giving details on the nature of his fracture.
Flowers said, “I have a torn labrum in that shoulder so I am going under the knife in a couple of weeks to get that taken care of.”
It appears that the musician may have hurt his shoulder in September 2017, because at the time, he posted a photo on his official Twitter account of The Killers, which displayed his bruised face.
“When mtn (mountain) biking down hill, don’t squeeze left brake,” he wrote at the time. However, it is unclear whether this incident has been driving him to undergo shoulder surgery.
Flowers revealed he has experienced significant complications because of his “bad shoulders” for quite some time now. He also said he had to undergo decompression surgery on both of his shoulders. The procedure included shaving off some of his bone to help relieve his pain. The story was originally published in PEOPLE.
