Mark Hoppus continues to give an update on his ongoing cancer battle.
Recently, the 49-year-old singer, who was diagnosed with stage 4 diffuse large B-cell lymphoma, took to Instagram to post a photo of his scalp, sharing that that his hair is growing back after the fifth round of chemotherapy.
The bassist of the rock band Blink-182 captioned the post, “Hahaha. Look at this trash. This is the top of my head right now. This is what God sees when He looks down upon His work and despairs.”
“Cancer-ass head trying to grow back some hair,” he continued. “Awww. Poor little head. Keep your chin up, fighter. Feeling terrible this week but trying to stay positive and count my blessings.”
“I hope everyone is doing great, staying healthy, and being kind to each other,” Hoppus added. “If anyone needs me, I’ll be on the couch for the foreseeable future.”
Hoppus first revealed his cancer diagnosis in late June.
He said at the time, “My classification is diffuse large B-cell lymphoma Stage 4-A, which means, as I understand it, it’s entered four different parts of my body. I don’t know how exactly they determine the four-part of it, but it’s entered enough parts of my body that I’m Stage 4, which I think is the highest that it goes. So, I’m Stage 4-A.”
Since the diagnosis, Hoppus has been quite open about his cancer battle, documenting his health for his fans along the way.
In August, he revealed that he was undergoing his fifth round of chemo, sharing a photo of himself sitting down at a medical clinic with an IV in his arm, according to PEOPLE.
Hoppus posted a photo of himself wearing a facemask, captioning, “Chemo round five, let’s heckin go.”
Diffuse large B-cell lymphoma is a type of cancer that starts in white blood cells called lymphocytes, according to WebMD. The cancer usually grows in lymph nodes – the glands situated in the neck, groin, armpits, and other parts of the immune system.
