Katy Perry has always been an open book when it comes to discussing her health issue. She once again shared some details of her recent mental health journey, revealing her “toughest time.”
In an interview with Vogue India, the 35-year-old explained that her mental health took a major blow in 2017 and 2018.
She said, “I became depressed and I did not want to get out of bed. In the past, I had been able to overcome it, but this time something happened that made me fall down too many flights of stairs. I had to really go on a mental health journey.”
This is not the first time Perry publically shared that she has been going through hard times. Earlier, she said she had to struggle with addiction and had suicidal thoughts at some points in her life.
The Roar singer revealed some of the intervention she had to undergo for treating her mental health issues, including a therapy called Hoffman Process that helps people to release and resolve persistent negative behavioral patterns.
Perry said her relationship with Orlando Bloom has helped her to stay grounded.
She said, “I have a partner who is also all about finding a balance—Orlando, who is on a spiritual journey of his own. He’s an anchor who holds me down, and he’s very real. He’s not the number one fan of Katy Perry, but he’s the number one fan of Katheryn Hudson.”
Perry also shared that she practices transcendental meditation (TM) that helped her to overcome her mental health issues.
She said, “There are so many different forms of meditation I’ve done, but nothing supersedes TM.”
Perry wants people to realize the importance of their mental health by sharing her own struggles. “We talk about all our different organs but [we] never talk about our brain, which keeps us functioning the most,” she added.
