On Wednesday, Justin Bieber revealed that he has been diagnosed with Lyme disease.

The 25-year-old singer took to his Instagram account to reveal the diagnosis. The post called out people who have commented about his appearance lately.

The Baby singer posted a screenshot of an article with a caption stating that those who commented that he looked like he was on drugs “failed to realize I’ve been recently diagnosed with Lyme disease.”

Bieber continued, “These things will be explained further in a docu series I’m putting on YouTube shortly.. you can learn all that I’ve been battling and OVERCOMING!!”

He will release a series of 10 episodes on YouTube titled “Justin Bieber: Seasons” on later this month.

Last year in March, the Sorry singer opened up about his mental health struggles and hinted that he was stepping away from making new music. He said he has been working on “deep rooted issues” and his marriage to Hailey Baldwin.

According to TMZ, Bieber went undiagnosed for almost a year and his Lyme disease diagnosis triggered depression and other symptoms.

“Lyme disease is the most common vector-borne disease in the United States,” according to the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).

The disease is caused by a pathogenic bacterium called Borrelia burgdorferi, which can be transmitted to humans through the infected black-legged tick bite.

The signs and symptoms of Lyme disease include fever, fatigue, headache, and a typical skin rash known as “erythema migrans.”

If left untreated, Lyme disease could spread to the heart, joints, and even the nervous system. It is estimated that more than 300,000 cases of Lyme disease are diagnosed in the United States each year, according to the CDC.
