Lee Health, run by the Leapfrog Group, is making sure that the people in Southwest Florida still have access to health care, as Hurricane Dorian has started affecting Florida.

Lee Health has been offering free telehealth medical visits from September 1 through September 7 in order to provide non-emergency medical care people need because of the storm.

It has been providing access to primary care physicians (PCPs) 24/7 to patients who are not able to make it to their PCP’s office or who are away from their home.

Through e-visits, patients can talk with the PCP using their smartphone or tab. PCPs can make a diagnosis and give a prescription if needed. One can call 911 if they want to any emergency medical care.

Chief Administrative Officer of Lee Physician Group, Kris Fay, said, “We want to make sure everyone in our region has the option to access the care they need in a safe and convenient setting during and after the hurricane, even if they’re unable to visit their doctor.”

You can download Lee TeleHealth app on your tab or smartphone or visit leetelehealth.org to get access to the free virtual visits. All visits are encrypted to safeguard your private information.

Common health issues treated through free e-visits include cold and flu, sinus infections, cough, allergies, skin conditions, headaches, sprains and strains, urinary tract infections, pink eye, and minor burns, cuts, bumps or scrapes.

Meanwhile, Tidelands Health hospitals are expected to remain open during Hurricane Dorian. As they are all situated outside Zone A, they will remain open and serve the community during the hurricane. The AdventHealth Medical Group is expected to remain open on Monday. However, it will be closed on September 3.
