In recent times, “mushroom coffee” has been gaining popularity for its health benefits. Some experts claim the exotic cup of coffee can help you with various ailments.
For many, it could be strange to believe that mushrooms and coffee go hand-in-hand.
Dr. Ken Grey, a holistic physician with Jupiter Medical Center, says, “You can combine the two and it makes for a happy, healthy start to the day.”
The holistic physician often recommends exotic mushroom supplements to prevent cancer cell proliferation. He said mushroom coffee also helps in fighting fatigue and boosting the immune system.
Dr. Grey says, “This is one of the new trends that we see helping so many people. Anti-inflammatory, it’s great for cardiovascular health, great for energy, great for autoimmune disease and awesome for combating cancer.”
He explained that the popularity of mushroom coffee has been on the rise and is making its presence into several regions of the country.
The physician is not a big fan of caffeine; however, he acknowledges morning coffee is a part of daily routines. He said, “It’s balance. Yin and yang, so it appeals to me very much.”
As mushroom coffee has been gaining so much of popularity, one top question that is often asked is whether the coffee tastes like mushrooms. Well, the short answer is no. And it is not that kind of mushroom you might be thinking about; it is different.
Dr. Grey said, “Typically when you think medicinal, you think, ‘Oh, is it the one that gives you the high?’ This is not what we are talking about when we talk about these mushrooms and coffee blends.”
He explains that mushrooms are for everyone and they are quite intelligent as a foodstuff. He said you should not be surprised if you see mushroom coffee in your coffee shop. “As we are getting more diverse coffee shops, you will get more of it,” mentioned Dr. Grey.
