Godfrey Gao Died From Sudden Cardiac Arrest

Godfrey Gao, Taiwanese-Canadian model and actor, collapsed and died on the set of a reality TV show in China on Wednesday. He was 35 years of age.

According to Chinese media reports, the incident took place in the eastern city of Ningbo while he was shooting on the set of Chase Me, a night-time series by Zhejiang Television that focuses on assigning physical tasks for its contestants.

Gao slowed down and fallen to the ground while he was running during shooting. He was immediately taken to a hospital where doctors confirmed that he had a sudden cardiac arrest.

The Mortal Instruments actor’s management company, JetStar Entertainment, said in a statement posted on Sina Weibo (a Twitter-like platform), Gao collapsed and was declared dead after almost three hours of medical care.

The company wrote, “We are very shocked and saddened and even until now find it impossible to accept.”

JetStar Entertainment also thanked every fan who loves Godfrey and described his death as “extremely painful.”

Gao was born as Tsao Chih-hsiang in Taipei, Taiwan, on 22 September 1984. He moved to Vancouver with his family in his childhood and then returned to Taiwan in 2004 to work as a model. He was best was known for his role as Magnus Bane in The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones. He was also known for his playing a leading role in Chinese TV series Remembering Lichuan.
