Scotch whisky producer Glenfiddich releases just 100 bottles of a 44-year-old single malt scotch whisky exclusively in the United States.

Produced by William Grant & Sons in Dufftown, Scotland, Glenfiddich is rolling out 1975 Vintage expression in one of two casks, No. 4706 and No. 5114.

Cask 4706 is made from European Oak Sherry Butt and Cask 5114 from European Oak Hogshead.

The scotch whiskey is said to have signature Glenfiddich characters of vanilla and poached pear that are bolstered with darker and more complex flavors.

According to the tasting notes, Cask 4706 is a distinctive and rare rich gold whisky that has a lively and vibrant bouquet imparting notes of oak, tannin, antique leather, and crisp parchment.

On the other hand, Cask 5114 is a beautifully rich and complex dark amber whisky that envelops the nose with an intense spicy oak character with layers of dried fruits.

Malt master at Glenfiddich Brian Kinsman said, “Selecting the casks to be a part of the exclusive Glenfiddich Rare Collection is a meticulous but extremely rewarding process.”

“They must reflect the timelessness of the Glenfiddich character, and the mastery of craftsmanship that has gone into creating the outstanding liquid within, resulting in a selection of whisky that is truly beyond compare,” he added.

Glenfiddich 1975 Vintage Cask 4706 and Cask 5114 are available at select fine spirits retailers in the United States. Each bottle of these rare collections is priced at $9,000.

Cask 4706 is bottled at barrel strength 48 percent ABV while Cask 5114 at 54.7 percent ABV. The bottles are available in a handcrafted brown Italian leather box containing a copper foiled leaflet with detailed information.
