Generic Aadhar is India’s fastest-growing pharma company that saves customers on their medical bills on every purchase of generic drugs. Its mission is to make medicines available to every Indian.
Arjun Deshpande, one of India’s youngest and most dynamic entrepreneurs founded this innovative venture. The brainchild of a then 16-year-old Deshpande initiated Generic Aadhar to make affordable low-cost generic medicines available to every Indian.
Founded in 2018, the company delivers high-quality generic drugs at up to 80% lower prices than branded counterparts do.
In an interview with The Logical Indian, Deshpande said, “I was sixteen and had gone to a medical store near my house when I saw that an old man had come to buy medicines for his wife who was suffering from cancer. However, since the bill was huge, and he could not afford to pay Rs. 15,000 [$198] for medicines, the store owner was reluctant to give him the medicines.”
“Medicines are not a luxury, but a basic necessity for almost everyone,” he added. “My mother had been in an international pharma firm for 20 years; therefore, I knew that India is one of the biggest manufacturers of generic medicines. Moreover, one-third of the total export of generic medicines is carried out by India alone.”
After some research, Deshpande found the medicine that costs Rs. 15,000 had a manufacturing cost of only Rs. 3,000 [$39]. This significant price difference between the manufacturing cost and the selling price was a major cause of concern.
Deshpande thought of bringing small drugstores under one roof. He affiliate them through a franchise and a digital support system so he could reach a mass audience.
Generic Aadhar planned to save on all costs and have maximum impact by cutting down all the middleman-ship like stockers and wholesale sellers, according to The Logical Indian.
The company caters to 60% of Indians who cannot afford their daily medications. In addition, it provides franchises to small drugstores with brand value, marketing, and promotion, generating a league of self-sustaining entrepreneurs.
What’s more? Indian business mogul Ratan Tata identified the young entrepreneur in Deshpande and invested in Generic Aadhar.
People can get up to 80% discount on most segments of medicines, such as Cardiology, Endocrinology, Nephrology, Neurology, Nutraceuticals, Antibiotics, Oncology, and more. Generic Aadhar has been appreciated on many national and international platforms. It supplied generic drugs directly from facilities approved by the WHO GMP.
