In a recent interview with OK! Magazine, Emily Atack has opened up about the mental health issues that she had to face toward the end of her relationship with now ex-boyfriend, Jason.
The 29-year-old said, “I started seeing my therapist towards the end of my relationship with Jason; I was also on strong antidepressants for a while.”
The actress also revealed that she has still been experiencing some effects of mental health issues. She said, “I definitely have days where I struggle to get out of bed. Doesn’t everyone?”
Emily went on to say that she had been very sensitive while growing up and her mental health struggles were wrapped up in her personality.
She is known for playing a role of Charlotte Hinchcliffe in a British sitcom “The Inbetweeners.”
Last year, she appeared on “I’m a Celebrity…Get Me Out of Here!” and became a famous public figure, finishing second behind Harry Redknapp. She brought positivity and warmth to the Jungle camp. However, she has been going through some dark moments in her life.
According to National Institute of Mental Health (NIMH), “Depression (major depressive disorder or clinical depression) is a common but serious mood disorder. It causes severe symptoms that affect how you feel, think, and handle daily activities, such as sleeping, eating, or working.”
In the United States, more than 17 million adults had at least one major depressive episode, representing 7.1 percent of all American adults.
“An estimated 65% received combined care by a health professional and medication treatment,” according to NIMH. “Approximately 35% of adults with major depressive episode did not receive treatment.” It is important seek attention if you experience any signs or symptoms of depression – such as persistent sadness, mood changes, irritability, feelings of loneliness, or any change in appetite, sleep, or behavior.
