Democrats Provide Health Care to Immigrants

The 2020 Democratic presidential hopefuls who took part in Thursday’s second round of debates in Miami agreed that illegal immigrants would be eligible to be covered under their respective health care plans.

When the moderator and NBC Today host Savannah Guthrie asked the 10 candidates whether their health care plans would provide coverage for more than 100 million people residing in the United States illegally, all Democrats raised their hands.

“It’s the humane thing to do,” said former Vice President Joe Biden.

Pete Buttigieg, the mayor of South Bend, Indiana, said. “This is not about a handout. This is about an insurance program.”

Just minutes after the Democrats agreed to provide health care plans to illegal immigrants, President Trump tweeted, “All Democrats just raised their hands for giving millions of illegal aliens unlimited healthcare. How about taking care of American Citizens first!? That’s the end of that race!”

The president tweeted from Japan where he has been scheduled to attend the G-20 summit.

Earlier this month, California has embraced providing health care coverage for illegal immigrants. According to the agreement between California Governor Gavin Newsom and Democrats in the state Legislature, “low-income adults age 19-25 living in California illegally would be eligible for the state’s Medicaid program, known as Medi-Cal.”
