DeMarcus Amir Cousins, an American basketball player for the Los Angeles Lakers, had a serious knee injury, a league’s spokesperson told ESPN on Thursday.
According to sources, he is excepted to have a torn anterior cruciate ligament (ACL); however, things will be confirmed once he undergoes further tests in Los Angeles.
Nicknamed Boogie, Cousins is expected to see Lakers team physicians.
On Monday, the 29-year-old was working out in Las Vegas and had to leave the court after he bumped into another player.
During the 2017-2019 season, Cousins suffered an Achilles tendon tear while playing for New Orleans. He had to miss several weeks with a quadriceps injury with Golden State last season.
In July, Cousins signed a one-year, $3.5 million contract with the Los Angeles Lakers. He is expected to be among the National Basketball Association’s elite this season.
