Amy Schumer has recently opened up about getting liposuction, sharing that she feels good after getting the procedure done.
During an appearance on Chelsea Handler’s podcast Dear Chelsea, the 40-year-old comedian said she never thought of getting liposuction but she eventually underwent it.
She told Handler, “I got liposuction. I never thought that I was going to do anything like that. Like when I would hear liposuction I was just like, that’s so crazy to me, and I would say that I’m not ever going to do anything.”
Liposuction is a surgical procedure that uses a suction technique to remove fat from specific areas of the body, such as the abdomen, hips, thighs, buttocks, arms, or neck, according to Mayo Clinic. It also shapes (contours) these areas.
However, she changed her mind and decided to get it done.
Schumer said she started thinking about liposuction between her difficult pregnancy with son Gene, 2, and her endometriosis. She had C-section during Gene’s delivery.
In September, she underwent a hysterectomy and appendicectomy to finally end her endometriosis pain. And then she decided to go through with liposuction.
She said, “I healed well, and I was like, can I get lipo? And I got lipo and I’m feeling really good.”
In January, Schumer revealed on Instagram about getting liposuction, which was the first time she went public about it. She told Handler that she wanted to be honest about getting plastic surgery.
The Trainwreck star told Handler, “I just wanted to say that, because if anybody sees me in pictures or anything and they’re like, she looks thinner, and whatever: it’s because I had a surgery. It’s too hard, and I just want to be real about it.”
In January, Schumer had shared two photos, thanking her two surgeons — the one who did endometriosis surgery and the other who did liposuction.
She wrote at the time, “I feel good. Finally. It’s been a journey thanks for helping me get my strength back @seckinmd (endo) @jordanternermd (lipo). Never thought I would do anything but talk to me after your uterus doesn’t contract for 2.5 years and you turn 40.”
Schumer also opened up about trying to have a second child with her husband Chris Fischer. However, she said she struggled during the IVF process.
She said that they “only got one normal embryo” from this round, and “we tried and it didn’t work. And now I don’t have a uterus.”
Schumer said that while she “was sad” they could not add to their family, “we’re just enjoying our little family and I’m just focusing on that. We tried, and we’re just going to have the one perfect, little adorable angel.”
