A week after postponing his June tour to work on some mental health issues, Brain Wilson thanks fans for their continued love and support.
On Monday (June 10), he tweeted, “Brian, Melinda and the Wilson family would like to thank all of you for your wonderful notes and good wishes. Brian looks forward to feeling better and seeing you again this Fall. Love & Mercy.”
On Thursday (June 6), Wilson said in a statement that he postponed the Pet Sounds and Greatest Hits Live tour after undergoing surgery that caused him to feel mentally insecure.
The Beach Boys co-founder wrote on his website, “After my last (back) surgery, I started feeling strange and it’s been pretty scary for a while. I was not feeling like myself. Mentally insecure is how I’d describe it. We’re not sure what is causing it but I do know that it’s not good for me to be on the road right now.”
The singer said he is dealing with mental illness for decades and it has become unbearable at times. He underwent three successful back surgeries in the past year, but the latest one made him feel strange and turned pretty scary.
Wilson said he was recording and rehearsing with the intentions of June touring. However, his mental health issues returned and had to struggle with some stuff in his head. He is planning to work with his doctors, get some rest and recover.
