Today Show weather forecaster, Al Roker, slammed fitness trainer, Jillian Michaels, for her recent comments on the keto diet. He even went on bashing the show Michaels once hosted on NBC.
Al Roker takes a dig at Michaels on Twitter by criticizing her on her recent remarks on the keto diet. The fitness enthusiast made some controversial comments about the most popular health trend, the keto diet. She claimed that people following the keto diet are starving themselves. “So [Jillian Michaels] says #Keto is a bad idea. This from a woman who promoted on camera bullying, deprivation, manipulation and more weekly in the name of weight loss. Now those sound like bad ideas,” referring to The Biggest Loser.
Recently, Michaels criticized the keto diet in a video for Woman’s Health. She said, “I don’t understand. Like, why would anyone think this is a good idea? Your cells, your macromolecules, are literally made up of protein, fat, carbohydrates, nucleic acids. When you do not eat one of the three macronutrients — those three things I just mentioned — you’re starving yourselves.”
Michaels has been constantly speaking out against the keto diet for months. In an interview with PEOPLE in May 2018, she called keto diet a “diet fad.”
After all the drama, a fan pointed out to the Today show weather forecaster about the dangers of the keto diet, for which, he had an instant reply. He tweeted, “That’s right. My choice. What works for me, may not work for others.”
Al, who was 340 pounds at one point, has struggled with weight problems for years and then underwent gastric bypass surgery in 2002.
Jillian explained the main reason that the keto diet has become so popular is it helps to manage your insulin levels; very high insulin, which is a very bad thing. In her opinion, a keto diet is not a good choice for most people, as it does not provide essential nutrients to the body.
After Jillian’s comments on the keto diet, Andy Cohen, American talk show and radio host, called Jillian the “Jackhole of the Day.” On Wednesday, he said, “Tonight’s ‘Jackhole of the Day’ goes to Jillian Michaels, who slammed the keto diet as an awful idea,” He further went to say, “Don’t feel bad, keto diet. A lot of people think Jillian Michaels is a bad idea.”
According to Healthline, the keto diet is a low-carb-high-fat (LCHF) diet, where you cut down your carbs and replace it with fat to put your body in a state of ketosis. The LCHF diet is supposed to help your body get more efficient when it comes to burning fat for energy. Also, it can lower blood sugar as well as insulin levels.
