American rapper Aaron Carter has opened up about how he got into opioid addiction and how he overcame it.

The 31-year-old rapper recently revealed on “E! True Hollywood Story” that how he initially got addicted to popping pills, mentioning that he got addicted since his doctor prescribed the drug after a broken jaw that he suffered from getting into a fight.

Aaron said, “The show always must go on. I had to take a painkiller to even sing. But I did find myself, OK, healed from the jaw and still taking the medication.”

“Everybody thought, ‘Oh my god, he has AIDS, he’s a crackhead, he’s a methhead,’” he continued. “That’s when I realized, OK, either you get your s*** together or you make the decision to slowly die.”

In 2018, the rapper revealed that he had quit taking the opioids. He said, “Stopped all of it. Even when I got out of treatment, they had me on certain things, and I stopped all of it. I didn’t want to be on anything.”

However, it seems that he has still been dealing with some health issues. The rapper recently took to Instagram to post a photo of himself lying in a hospital bed, captioning, “Mommas gonna take care of you,” citing his recent professional reconciliation with his mother, Jane, who was also his early career manager.

His mother told TMZ that he arrived at her house on Thursday and seemed “dangerously underweight,” weighing just over eight stone. According to reports, his mom drove him straight to the hospital where he underwent a series of tests.
