Orlando Bloom has recently revealed that he has to abstain from sex for nearly six months before meeting Katy Perry.
The 43-year-old actor told the Sunday Times that he got that suggestion from his close mate Laird Hamilton. Bloom said it was Hamilton who told him to try celibacy.
The Pirates of the Caribbean star said, “Laird said, ‘If you want to be serious about a relationship, go celibate for a few months and figure it out.’”
“It takes away the idea of going to a party and thinking, ‘Who am I going to meet?” Bloom added. “I was suddenly, like, ‘Oh, I can have a relationship with a woman that is just friends.’”
Bloom also admitted that sex had previously gotten in the way of all his friendships with women. The actor then noticed a huge difference after changing his attitude.
He said, “I was going to do three months [of abstaining], but I was really enjoying the way I was relating to women, and to the feminine within myself.”
However, Bloom said it is not easy to follow celibacy and he would not recommend it for everyone.
Bloom said, “It was insane. I don’t think it’s healthy. I don’t think it was advisable.
You have to keep it moving down there.”
