Sean Payton, New Orleans Saints coach, has been tested positive for the new coronavirus (COVID-19).
Payton is the first person in the National Football League (NFL) to test positive for the virus.
He said he was not feeling well this Sunday and went for the test on Monday. He received the results on Thursday. He is resting at home. Although Payton has symptoms of fatigue, he has no fever and cough, which is the characteristic feature of COVID-19. He is self-quarantined in his home and is optimistic about a full recovery.
The 56-year-old said he revealed his because he wants people to follow the guidelines laid by the government officials, such as staying inside and behaving responsibly.
Payton told ESPN, “This is not just about social distancing. It’s shutting down here for a week to two weeks. If people understand the curve, and understand the bump, we can easily work together as a country to reduce it.”
“Take a minute to understand what the experts are saying,” he added. “It’s not complicated to do what they’re asking of us. Just that type of small investment by every one of us will have a dramatic impact.”
“I was fortunate to be in the minority, without the serious side effects that some have,” the Saints’ coach added. “I’m lucky. Younger people feel like they can handle this, but they can be a carrier to someone who can’t handle it. So we all need to do our part. It’s important for every one of us to do our part.”
Meanwhile, Evangeline Lilly said that she will not be staying inside during the ongoing coronavirus crisis.
The 40-year-old Canadian actress took to Instagram to let her fans know that her children are continuing to attend gymnastics camp.
Some people took issue with her stand in the comment section of her post. However, Lilly said she is choosing liberty.
She told one commenter, “I am also immune compromised at the moment. I have two young kids. Some people value their lives over freedom, some people value freedom over their lives. We all make our choices.” Lilly even went on to say that she has been living with her father who is also immune-compromised with stage-four leukemia.
