It seems that Henry Cavill has been going to great lengths to make sure his shirtless close-ups in his new Netflix series ‘The Witcher’ are just right.

The 36-year-old actor said he dehydrated himself by curbing his water intake in order to reduce his water weight and show off his muscular physique in The Witcher.

He had to completely stay away from drinking water the day before and on the day of filming the shirtless sequences.

On Friday, Cavill told Graham Norton, “That’s the worst part of it. Like, diet is difficult, and you’re hungry, but when you are dehydrating for three days, you get to the point on the last day where you can smell water nearby.”

The Man of Steel actor said forced dehydration and last-minute pushups just before the shots made his skin thin so that it “sits on the muscles.”

“The training for these kind of things, the most important thing is your health so you can stay physically fit without injuries while doing all these crazy things. That’s what it really is for,” he added.

Cavill continued, “I mean, yes, you’re supposed to look a certain way aesthetically — especially getting your shirt off — but it’s mostly for just staying healthy.”

He also took some additional measures to change his appearance for The Witcher. Cavill wears rock long, blonde hair to play the lead role of Geralt in the series He also wears yellow contacts in his eyes, which he says he liked, even though he “couldn’t see much.”
