More than 58 percent of Americans who are in long-distance relationships stay together, according to a survey by a sex toy company KIIROO.
According to the online dating site OKCupid, more than 50 percent of American singles are open to embracing long-distance relationships.
Dating experts say that partners should commit to greater and deeper communication in order to maintain long-distance relationships. And thanks to the technology that has helped so many couples to feel closer and work on their relationships.
In fact, dating experts recommend the use of technologies and dating apps to keep their love going on against all odds. Many long-distance couples use Skype and FaceTime to share something that they experience.
Dating Coach Cherlyn Chong says, “Google Drive is another great app to have, because of the shared folders and documents you can share with your loved one. A former boyfriend and I liked to drop pictures, quotes, audio files and even ebooks that we found interesting for each other in their respective folders.”
Chong also recommends an app called Couple because “not only is it a personal Facebook for two, but they also have this delightful function called the ‘Thumbkiss,’ where partners can tap the screen and feel the other person through a phone vibration.”
Gaming is yet another popular dating activity for long-distance couples. Steam, an online program with more than 30,000 titles and chatting functions, is a good gaming app for couples. Other popular websites such as Yahoo Games and Pogo.com also offer games for couples, including Yahtzee.
Sharing nude pictures is another way to maintain your long-distance relationship. Chong agrees, “Sending nudes keeps the relationship (and imagination) alive. Nothing quite strengthens the bond than knowing that only you have access to such a private part of them! It’s almost illicit, a sexy secret only the both of you share.” “It’s very easy to be in a long-distance relationship nowadays,” says Chong. “There’s no excuse not to keep in touch with your sweetheart or to start something with someone you feel connected to, even if they are on the opposite side of the globe.”
