Aaron Rodgers has recently claimed that viewers were “rooting against” Green Bay Packers due to his vaccination status.
The 38-year-old quarterback alleged on Tuesday’s episode of The Pat McAfee Show that his vaccination status was a major factor.
He claimed, “There were a ton of people tuning in rooting against us for one reason, and one reason only. It’s because of my vaccination status and them wanting to see us lose so they could pile on and enjoy and revel in the fact that my vaccination status was some sort of reason why we haven’t had success in the playoffs.”
Rodgers continues to be a polarizing figure due to his views on COVID. In a recent interview with ESPN, he criticized how President Joe Biden’s administration has been approaching vaccinations.
He told ESPN Friday, “When the president of the United States says, ‘This is a pandemic of the unvaccinated.’ it’s because him and his constituents, which, I don’t know how there are any if you watch any of his attempts at public speaking, but I guess he got 81 million votes.”
“But when you say stuff like that, and then you have the [Centers for Disease Control and Prevention], which — how do you even trust them? — but then they come out and talk about 75% of the COVID deaths have at least four comorbidities,” he added. “And you still have this fake White House set saying that this is the pandemic of the unvaccinated, that’s not helping the conversation.”
In November, Rodgers said on The Pat McAfee Show that he was not vaccinated against COVID, shortly after contracting the virus, despite telling reporters in August that he had been “immunized” against the coronavirus. In addition, he said his phrasing was not deceptive, but rather deliberate.
