It is important to take care of your gut health by feeding the good bacteria. In fact, it has been trending for a few years now; however, it is still a new concept for most people.

If you have poor gut health, you are vulnerable to gastrointestinal issues such as constipation, bloating, and even inhibit weight loss. Also, it can lead to other long-term health issues.

Snyder recommends prioritizing your gut health by including anti-inflammatory foods in your daily diet, managing stress in your life, and more importantly, taking probiotics.

Barrymore started her day with fresh fruits and veggies

Although Barrymore was not on a vegan diet, she was certainly on plant-based and fiber-heavy diet. Foods rich in fiber are prebiotics, which promote the growth of good bacteria in your gut. Her diet also included ginger and cilantro, which promote detoxification.

Barrymore also started her day with so-called “Green Glowing Smoothie,” which was full of fiber, vitamins, and minerals. Snyder explained that consuming natural, whole foods help promote natural satiety and keep the American actress powered all day.

Here’s the Snyder’s Green Glowing Smoothie recipe:

  • 7 cups chopped spinach
  • 6 cups romaine lettuce (about one small head)
  • 2 cups cold, filtered water
  • 2 medium stalks celery
  • 1 medium apple, cored and coarsely chopped
  • 1 medium pear, cored and coarsely chopped
  • 1 medium banana, peeled and cut in thirds
  • 2 tbsp freshly squeezed lemon juice
  • Parsley and cilantro, optional

Barrymore avoided potentially inflammatory foods

In association with promoting a healthy gut, the nutritionist recommends cutting back or reducing refined sugars, and avoid gluten and dairy products. Snyder emphasized cutting down dairy, which has helped Barrymore to lose weight. However, most health experts do not advise avoiding gluten and dairy completely from your diet unless you are gluten- or lactose-intolerant. While some people cannot tolerate dairy products well, considering high-quality protein foods can be a healthy option. It is important to include whole grains instead of refined.
